What Benefits Are Included With a Revit License?
Both subscription and Flex include Autodesk’s Included Plan (formerly Standard plan) benefits, such as:

- Access to digital learning and Autodesk Community
These benefits are particularly useful for AEC businesses managing multiple Revit users, as they provide greater visibility over software access and utilisation.
Meanwhile, organisations with at least 50 eligible Autodesk subscriptions may qualify for the Business Success Plan, which provides additional support and administrative capabilities.

The Business Success Plan is an additional offering rather than a standard benefit automatically included with every Revit subscription. Organisations should confirm eligibility, pricing, and available benefits with Autodesk or their authorised partner.
What Revit Licensing Options Are Available?
Autodesk Revit is available through several licensing options, depending on how frequently you use the software and the applications your projects require.
For commercial use, businesses and professionals can choose between a standalone Revit subscription (full license and LT), Autodesk Flex, or the Autodesk AEC Collection.
Eligible students and educators can also access Revit for free through the Autodesk Education Plan, which is restricted to educational purposes.
Revit Subscription
A Revit subscription gives one named user access for a monthly, annual, or three-year term.
That person signs in with their Autodesk account. Product updates and eligible previous versions are included throughout the active term.
Autodesk Flex for Revit
Autodesk Flex charges 10 tokens per user for each billable 24-hour period of Revit access.
The charge starts when you open Revit and sign in. Reopening it within the same period adds no further Revit charge, though another chargeable Autodesk product may consume more tokens.
Tokens expire 365 days after purchase and do not roll over. The current minimum purchase is 33 tokens.
Revit Through the Autodesk AEC Collection
The Autodesk AEC Collection includes a full Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks Manage, and other AEC tools.
Each collection seat is assigned to one named user, who can use all its included applications. Those applications cannot be divided between colleagues.
Revit Student and Education License
Eligible students and educators in Australia can access Autodesk Revit for free through the Autodesk Education Plan.
Educational access is granted for one year and can be renewed annually as long as the user remains eligible. It provides access to Revit’s professional software capabilities for qualifying educational activities.
However, Revit educational licenses cannot be used for commercial or professional projects, including paid client work. Students and educators must verify their eligibility through Autodesk before accessing the software.

Revit Subscription vs Autodesk Flex: Which Is More Cost-Effective?
An annual Revit subscription becomes more cost-effective than Flex from the 101st billable day, based on Autodesk’s published base token rate.
Autodesk lists this rate at A$4.35 per token for purchases below A$5,000 in token. As an illustration, Revit consumes 10 tokens per billable 24-hour period, which brings the cost to A$43.50. Autodesk’s rate sheet rounds this to A$44.
The table below shows how these costs add up for one person using Revit. Estimates exclude applicable taxes, charges for other applications and the cost of unused tokens.

The break-even point works out to A$4,365÷A$43.50, or approximately 100.3 billable periods.
Your actual spending will also depend on token purchase quantities and expiry, while volume pricing and usage of other Autodesk applications can shift the comparison.
Monthly subscriptions are worth considering for shorter assignments. Although 12 monthly payments add up to A$6,600 compared with A$4,365 annually, a single month at A$550 costs less than 13 billable Flex periods at the base rate.
You can also combine subscriptions and Flex across your team based on how frequently each person uses Revit.
If someone has both types of access, Autodesk uses their subscription first, so their Revit usage won’t consume Flex tokens while that subscription remains active.
Revit vs Revit LT vs Autodesk AEC Collection
Revit provides full BIM authoring and worksharing tools, while Revit LT offers a smaller set of features, and Autodesk AEC Collection includes full Revit alongside other Autodesk applications.
The right choice depends on the tools your projects require.
So, start by comparing Revit and Revit LT, particularly their modelling, collaboration, and automation capabilities. Then, check the following table:

For someone who needs both Revit and AutoCAD (and maybe other Autodesk software as well), the AEC Collection can offer better value. Separate subscriptions cost A$7,405 per year at the listed prices, compared with A$5,335 for the collection.
If that person only needs Revit, a standalone subscription costs less.

Start by counting how many people need Revit, then identify the applications and collaboration tools required for their work. Consider how often each person will use the software. If your team needs cloud worksharing, remember to include the separate collaboration entitlement in your budget.
Compare Licensing Options
Use the pricing and capability tables above to compare the cost of each user’s proposed setup. Your purchase list should include the product or bundle, access model and subscription term.
Add the number of seats, expected Flex usage and any separately licensed collaboration tools so you can compare the total cost.
Purchase Through Autodesk or an Authorised Partner
You can purchase Revit directly from Autodesk or work with an authorised Autodesk Partner to obtain a quotation.
For eligible Australian purchases, your partner can prepare the quotation, while the software transaction takes place directly between you and Autodesk.
You can complete checkout through the quotation email or the Quotes section of Autodesk Account.
Your partner may also quote Revit training for professionals or implementation support. Confirm the scope and payment terms for these services, and review any financing arrangement separately.
Assign and Manage Your Licenses
After purchasing, an administrator can assign subscription seats or Flex access to individual users through Autodesk Account.
Under User Management, select the relevant team and assign access by user or product. Each person can then sign in using their own Autodesk account.

The purchaser handles billing and renewals, while administrators manage user access and reporting. If different people handle these responsibilities, agree on who reviews usage and approves renewal decisions.
Before renewing, review your Autodesk license management data alongside your team’s upcoming project requirements:
- Usage: Under Reporting > Usage Report, check how often Revit is used, when users last accessed it and how much Flex they’ve consumed.
- Upcoming work: Consider planned projects and offline use before deciding whether a seat is no longer needed.
- User access: Reassign available seats when employees leave or move into different roles.
- Renewal: Review subscription quantities, terms, payment details and auto-renew status under Billing and Orders.
- Renewal dates: If you’re managing several subscriptions, ask whether eligible renewal dates can be aligned to simplify planning.
Most current subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renew. Eligible renewal quotations may be available up to 90 days before renewal. Since seat reductions only take effect at renewal, confirm any quantity changes before that date.
